Steve Petty 449-inch turbo combo in Steve Matusek chassis qualified low at 7.16/198 then fouled in the first round by five thousandths of a second!

Brian Carpenter's bright red Vortech 10.5W Outlaw stunned fans with a 7.19/204.66 blast that made the Minnesotan one of the five fastest "ten-five" drivers ever. Turbo 392 then went red by one thousandth in the first round on a 7.24/199 effort!
