Dear Rick,

What is the right way and what are the tools needed to set toe in my shop of at the track? My car is a Don Davis Corvette roadster that I run in Super Gas. It has Strange front struts with a four-link and Koni shocks on the rear. The car does not like to go straight, so I want to check all possibilities why.

Any help will be appreciated, Thank you for your time.

James Arsenault

James,

All you need to set the toe is a toe gauge and a scribe. Jack up the front of your car and scribe the centerline in the front tires. Set the car back on the ground and put the driver (or an equivalent weight) in the driver's seat. Roll the car backwards and then pull forward approximately 15 to 20 inches. The last movement MUST be forward.

Use the toe gauge to set toe in at 1/16 to 1/8 inch. Jack up the car until the struts bottom out and recheck toe. Try to make the toe the same by shimming between the tie rod and the steering arm. When you are finished shimming, recheck the toe.

Rick
