QUESTION: I have a 405 small block Chevy which I recently rebuilt, using head studs in place of bolts. I'm having a problem with water leakage from the studs inside the valve cover. What is the correct way to install head studs to prevent water leakage? I was told to try a block sealer, but with no success. Garet Y Garet, The solution is simple. The least expensive fix is to remove all the studs and apply TST or PST (thread or pipe sealer with Teflon). Another solution would be to drain the water and allow the threads to dry thoroughly. Then apply a couple of drops of a product made by Locktite called Wick-N-Lock. It will wind down the threads under the nut and seal. Either one of these should take care of your problem. Thanks for asking. Don
