QUESTION 1:

Is there a difference between the two sanctioning bodies as far as specs for these cars, i.e., weight, etc. to run at the different events? Thanks

Go Pro Mod,

Pete

Pete,

The original concept was to have both sanctioning bodies running on the same rules. On the IHRA side, the rules change often in an effort to maintain parity between the nitrous and blower cars. I suggest you call before you race!

QUESTION 2:

My question is, does running alcohol give you more consistent times for a bracket car, same for a vacuum system? I run an sbc 406 in a 3000 lb. car, a glide, 456 rear, 750 demon. Also, I'm building a backup motor, (short block 400) and would like to know your opinion on the Scat 9000 nodular crank. I've got a steel one in the above motor and was looking to save some money if these cranks are as reliable as the claims I have read about them.

Thanks,

John

John,

My experience with alcohol has shown more consistency in bracket-type racing. Alcohol does not seem to mind weather changes as much as gasoline. A vacuum system will allow an engine to produce more power, which may help out consistency. I think that crank selection should be based on application. Any crank will perform well within its structural limitations.
