RIEGER AND CHRISTIAN GET THEIR ’57S READY FOR
PRO STREET

Agent N20 hears that within a week Tony Christian should have his ’57 ready for testing. Christian put his old ’57 on a diet in order to save weight which included replacing many of the heavy car’s fiberglass body panels with carbon fiber parts. Christian also has the parts to build one of the five inch bore center 707 cubic inch big blocks or could possibly have a turbocharged motor if required. Christian’s test session at Houston Raceway Park could determine which way he goes.

Bob Rieger’s Jerry Bickel-built ’57 Chevy (photo) is nearing completion and he has already made his engine choice. His ’57 will have the 427 cubic inch turbocharged small block that powered his S-10 truck to a 6.67 lap in testing this winter. Rieger plans to test the week before the NMCA opener if the ’57 is finished.

RIEGER ALSO TO RUN TRUCK IN OUTLAW STREET

NMCA Pro Street champ Bob Rieger will be taking both his new ’57 business coupe and his S-10 truck to NMCA events at the start of the 2000 season. If everything goes right with the Pro Street car look for Rieger to run the S-10 truck in the Outlaw Street division. The truck has already run a 6.67 in testing so it should be ready.

ADLER PUTS GOAT OUT TO PASTURE AND GETS A STINGRAY

NMCA Outlaw Street World Champ Randy Adler retired his "Pro Goat" ’67 GTO after last season and the rumor was he wouldn’t return for another season. Agent N2O hears that Adler will be back in a ’63 Corvette Stingray built by Tommy Mauney using the blown rat motor that powered his GTO under the hood for power. Can you say 6.50s?

IS BRUCE COMING BACK?

Outlaw Street racer Bruce Kimmens, who was suspended and fined $10,000 after a wreck revealed a nitrous oxide bottle in a fuel tank, is rumored to be coming back. The Agent saw a rendering that looked like a ’36 Chevy and was told that it was Kimmens’ new ride, but the last time we checked the Canadian driver still hadn’t paid his fine. Agent N2O wonders if NMCA would let Kimmens pay in Canadian dollars which would convert to about $7,000 American.

DELAMAGGIORE TO RETURN TO PRO STREET

Agent N2O hears that Delamaggiore is getting his ex-Bob Rieger Firebird ready for a return to NMCA in 2000. Delamaggiore is able to run the Firebird with a naturally aspirated 820+ cubic inch Sonny Leonard motor for power. If he were to run a powerglide, the car could weigh in at about 2500lbs. IHRA Pro Stockers using this engine at about 2450lbs have run 6.59 in testing. Delamaggiore could make things very interesting for the likes of Rieger and Christian if the car runs to its potential.
