As with every oil pan (and valve cover) manufactured by Billet Fabrication, all of the pan rails and seals are formed from 3/8-inch-thick, 6160 billet aluminum and welded to the .090-inch sheet-metal material used in the rest of the pan. This ensures much better sealing capability than the common, stamped-metal rails found on other pans, even after years of use and countless on-off cycles.

Showing no bias, Billet Fabrication builds these two-piece pans for all popular Mopar, Ford, and GM engines, with a variety of sump locations and for just about any chassis design. There are also versions for both wet- and dry-sump systems. In wet-sump applications, the pickup and windage trays come as standard equipment.

This "Ollie" pan was found at the Reggie Jackson's Performance Engines shop (San Bruno, Calif.), mounted onto a big-block Chevy and making the bottom-end inspection a snap during dyno testing.

As valuable as this time- and worry-saving device can be for bottom-end divers, engine builders who like to play with dynos are equally thankful for Ollie technology. Checking the bearings between dyno pulls? Looking for stray solids in the bottom of the pan? No sweat! Just leave the tube of silicone and the gasket sets in the engine-assembly area, and get back to the dyno in record time.

Of course, the silicone manufacturers probably aren't gonna be very happy about all this, especially after their bad press and loss of business in the breast-implant industry. But now racers can also answer the question that women have long been confronted with in shopping for bathing suits: One piece or two?

"Baffle Balls," another exclusive innovation from Billet Fabrication, are much more effective at keeping oil in the rear sump and feeding the pump during deceleration than the common "trap door" baffles. Baffle Balls are optionally available in every Pro-series one- or two-piece pans.
This display model of a ball-style baffle shows the cone-shaped tubes that allow the oil to freely flow to the back of the pan until the binders or parachute are applied, which forces the balls to the front of the tubes and seals them shut.
