When I put
on the brake the car goes to full throttle and
heads down the track and if I let go of the
button, the front wheels lock up. A guy told
me that it was my Johnson rod shorting out the
muffler bracket. I thought if anyone would know
it would be you.
John Kilgore
here … how the hell are you?

Put a pressure gauge on the muffler bearing
and get an adjustable Johnson rod just in case. John, we
are doing just great! Good hearing from you!
Thanks,

I have a glide aftermarket
case etc., all the good stuff in low gear. When
I hit the trans brake button the car goes backwards
like in reverse. It takes the rpm up but rolls
back a little. Is this a pressure or low gear
clutch problem? Eight passes since built by
BTE.

On your glide, when you apply the trans brake
button it uses first gear (low band) oil pressure to apply
the reverse clutch pack, that big piston in the rear of
your transmission. As you can imagine it takes quite a bit
of fluid volume to apply that six and one-half inch piston.
So if your pump is loose or if there is a pressure regulator
problem the brake may not lock down well. There are many
things that can contribute to this problem. The best place
to start is by getting a pressure gauge on it to see if
we can get some idea where the problem is.
Thanks,
Mike
