FACTORY MODIFIED SPORTSMAN
CLASS DESCRIPTION
FM/S provides Super Stock-style racecars
a place to compete with a heads up, pro tree
format. Any American production car or truck
meeting current NHRA Super Stock or SS/GT
class regulations and safety specifications
will be accepted.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Body Style:
FM/S allows any body style (conventional Super
Stocks and GT body styles plus station wagon,
convertible, sports car or pickup truck) to
use any accepted Super Stock engine, provided
it is of the same corporate family as the
body.
Engine: Any
engine listed in the NHRA Classification Guide
for Super Stock can be used, provided it is
of the same corporate family as the body.
Weight: All
cars in competition are required to compete
at a minimum of 10 pounds of weight per NHRA
factored horsepower plus 170-pound driver
weight. No maximum ballast limit regulations
are enforced, however only 100 pounds may
be added to the

ballast
box. If additional weight is required, it
must be permanently attached, per NHRA regulations.
Minimum weight of 2500 pounds, as per NHRA
SS/GT specification.
Weight Example:
1969 Camaro with 1995 LT-1 motor. Simply
multiply the factored HP x 10- pounds and
add 170 pounds = minimum weight. In this case,
it works out to 279 X 10 = 2790 + 170 = 2960
pounds minimum.
Automatic Transmission: Any OEM Manufacture,
Corporate two or three speed automatic transmission
allowed. No Lock Up converters. Auto Trans
Example: Powerglide behind 1995 LT-1 motor
in 1969 Camaro.
Manual Transmission: Any clutch-type, commercially
available conventional manual transmission
with a maximum of four forward speeds (no
five speed transmissions; no transmissions
with split sliders). Manual Trans Example:
Jerico four speed behind 1995 LT-1 motor in
1969 Camaro.
All other rules and regulations are per the
NHRA Rule Book for Super Stock and Super Stock
GT.
