VOLUME XX,  NUMBER 9 - SEPTEMBER,  2018

And that’s final!

Only needing to make a qualifying pass to secure her third FIA Top Fuel Dragster title, Anita Mäkelä stamped her authority on the championship with a low qualifying 3.8706/297.02 to lower her own elapsed time record that the Finn set in Sweden two weeks ago.

The European drag racing came to an end with England’s Santa Pod track holding the Euro Finals. See all the results at here.

The unfavorable weather report

1. The SHRA event in Denton, TX, has been canceled due to rain expected Friday through Sunday.

2. The Nitro Nationals at Osage Tulsa Raceway Park has been canceled due to an unfavorable weather forecast. An NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series points race for the Nostalgia Top Fuel and A/Fuel classes, it will not be rescheduled.

The Tulsa track posted: With the weather forecast for this weekend and with respect of the teams traveling from all over the US, the decision has been made to cancel this weekend’s Nitro Nationals at Osage Tulsa Raceway Park. We have worked with NHRA to make this event a Heritage Series race and it has had many great years of racing with no rain outs. Now that Mother Nature has caused us to cancel this year’s event, we will work hard to make this event bigger and better for 2019 to make up for having to cancel this year. For everyone that has purchased tickets on line we are working with ticketing company and will get refunds issued.

Rockingham cancels racing this weekend

Although the track was not affected by tropical storm Florence, Steve Earwood has canceled this weekend’s racing at Rockingham Dragway because of flooding of surface roads and some racers’ shops.

The track’s parking lot has been used as a staging area for power company crews working in the area.

The track will hold its Super Chevy Show on Sept. 29-30.

‘Beautiful’ forecast for St. Louis

Ron Lewis

Temperatures in the 80’s will greet racers on Thursday and Friday at Gateway Motorsports Park, but will fall into the 70’s for Saturday and Sunday, making for a great weekend for the Burkster and Ron Lewis to stand on the starting line at DRO’s home track.

XDA still on schedule for MDIR

The Xtreme Dragbike Association says the weather forecast for Budds Creek, MD, looks good overall with just a small chance of a quick shower. Champions will be crowned at the Sept. 21-23 Fall Nationals.

New Product of the Day

Holley Sniper EFI for Quadrajets

The Sniper EFI Quadrajet system boasts the same great features as the 4150 Sniper EFI version – a 3.5-inch full-color touchscreen for initial setup, tuning, and gauge displays, multiple fuel-inlet configurations for a totally stock appearance, and integrated timing control – and it's compatible with most stock air cleaners. Installation doesn't get any easier, and with the throttle-body-mounted ECU there are no extra boxes to mount. Just four wiring connections are required – battery positive, battery negative, switched ignition, and RPM – and a calibration wizard takes care of everything (no laptop required). Just answer a few basic questions about your engine using the touchscreen, and the calibration wizard creates a base map and starts tuning on its own.
