UDRA PRO MOD
Almost don’t need a paragraph for this one as just three Pro Mods skimped the staging lanes. Jeff Elam’s blown ’57 Chevy charged to the final with a low ET. 6.72, 204.98 to 7.03, 179.92 win over Loren Braseth’s ’68 Camaro. Past UDRA Pro Mod champ Bill Graziano soloed to a troubled 10.48, a run that guaranteed that only divine intervention would put him in the final.
UDRA AKLY FUNNY CAR
Many time World Series champ Lance Van Hauen insured himself a place in the final when his low ET 6.14, 235.98 bopped Kevin Newburgh’s “Heckler” Trans Am, although he had to work like hell to take it as Newburgh crushed him at the Tree, .062 to .591.
Two more holeshots figured in eliminations, but fortunately for the victims not disastrous in nature. Mike Dolph’s entry took a .099 to .470 advantage on Ron Ooms’ “Streaker’s Pride” Olds Achieva, but fell to the leaper, 6.46, 210.93 to 7.29, 175.09. Wayne Butler’s entry picked Danny Crownhart’s pocket in the “Diamond Jim” entry, .020 to .104, but fell on the top end 6.42,211.16 to 6.57, 215.44.
