Troy,
in his first full season between the pipes, will wheel the
Coker family A / Fuel dragster through a six race schedule
of Midwestern nostalgia racing. Father Mike will get the
front motored 216-inch Boulton digger tuned up in a three
installment test period at Indianapolis Raceway Park in
May, then apply his own driving tips to Mike's efforts over
the course of he season.
Mike was active in the Junior Fuel eliminator
action that was a staple of weekly racing in the Midwest
during the 1960s and 1970s. His initial driving duties were
at the wheel of the Avenger dragster from 1968 to 1970,
followed by a stint at he helm of the first Coker Family
digger from 1970 through 1972. Troy made his driving debut
at the 2004 Nostalgia Drags at Mid-State Dragway, in Havana,
Illinois. He qualified fifth in a tough eight car field,
but lost first round to the top qualifier.
The Coker Racing team will be in action at
the following events in 2005:

Raceway park (IN)

Last, but certainly not least is a little public service
announcement. Mother’s Day is right around the corner.
I know I wouldn’t be able to do what I do with all
the racing and missed family gatherings (“dinner at
the in-laws?…honey, Gaynor needs me“) if my
mom, my mother in-law and the mother of my children, Pammy,
didn’t love and support me in all my foolishness.
Please remember the mothers in your life, or the muthas
for that matter. Happy Mother’s Day!
