McGINNIS GETTING NEW '37 CHEVY
PRO MOD
Missouri Pro Mod racer Marty McGinnis has sold
his old '37 Chevy that previously had been raced
by Jim Oddy and Fred Hahn, and is having a new
Jeffers Race Cars '37 Chevy built for the 2004
season. Instead of the more traditional '37
body like the previous car, the new one is rumored
to be getting one of the more aero body styles
like the one used by Danny Rowe on his last
Pro Mod.

JOE KNOWS FAME
Five-time
NHRA Top Fuel world champion Joe Amato will
be inducted into the Eastern Motorsports Press
Association's (EMPA) Hall of Fame Saturday,
Jan. 24, during the motorsports media association's
annual awards banquet and convention near Philadelphia.
Amato, winner of a Top Fuel-record 52 NHRA events,
including three U.S. Nationals titles at Indianapolis
Raceway Park, will be inducted alongside veteran
motorsports television announcer Ken Squier,
former Flemington, N.J. Speedway standout Stan
Ploski, former NASCAR national modified champion
Bugsy Stevens and the late Lou Lazzaro, a legendary
racer in the New York area known for his versatility
on both dirt and asphalt.
"Being honored as an EMPA Hall of Famer is
nice because you're being honored by motorsports
writers who have watched a lot of race car drivers
perform over the years," Amato said. "To be
selected as one of the elite few is quite a
privilege." (Jeff Burk

McBRIDE MOVING TO THE 'SHOW'
DRO
covered a bike race at Rockingham Dragway late
last year and one of the stars of that race
was 24-year-old Angie McBride. At the time she
told editor Jeff Burk she wanted to race with
the NHRA. Now she is going to get her wish thanks
to NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle guru George Bryce.
"Angie has been to our motorcycle racing class
at the Frank Hawley School a total of three
times," says Bryce. "And with each succeeding
class, she just got better and better. We think
she has all the tools necessary to be an excellent
drag racer."
"It's a dream come true for anyone who has
ever wanted to race," said McBride. "I've always
wanted to race in Pro Stock Bike. When I was
asked by George if I was interested in racing
with Star this year, it didn't take me long
to say yes. I can hardly wait for the season
to start."
A tip of the Agent's fedora to Bryce and Angie.
