TRUTH IN PRESS RELEASES, PT I
According to one press release from the PR folks at the just-concluded Tulsa "Chili Bowl" indoor race for midget race cars, Don Prudhomme's shoe, Ron Capps, was involved in one of three major crashes. According to the "Chili Bowl" PR folks, Capps broke a bone in the crash he was involved in. A later press release on NHRA.com corrected the gaff. Capps didn't break a bone, just badly bruised it and probably put a big 'ol hematoma on Capps ego.
The Agent hopes that Capps' boss doesn't bar him from oval track racing after this. The sport badly needs more guys like Capps who will drive the wheels off of anything that has them. (Horcher Bros. Photos)

Stock motorcycle star Reggie Showers was not going to return to NHRA competition was that he couldn't find the funding. We then mildly chastised NHRA's PR department for not doing more to help Showers find a sponsor. It turns out, according to NHRA, that Showers was offered and accepted a very lucrative deal as a motivational speaker and also has a desire to spend more time with his family this year and that's the real reason he won't be racing. None of that appeared in the press release we got.
