4000 HP PRO MOD ENGINES?

Speaking of turbos in Pro Mod, DRO contacted turbo guru Kenny Duttweiler and asked the engine builder what kind of power a 500 cubic inch twin-turbocharged, fuel-injected engine would make. Duttweiler said that a 500-inch intercooled engine easily would make 2500hp. He went on to say that he could build a 600-inch gas motor that would make
4000hp. Duttweiler said he thought that if the AMS circuit didn't have a good set of rules regulating the turbocharged cars that the circuit would inevitable become an all-turbo class. Kenny Nowling has assured everyone involved that he would have rules that limited the turbo-cars and wouldn't hesitate to make rule changes to keep turbo cars from dominating the class.

DRO will have a more in depth tech article in the very near future based upon the turbo-charged engines and their good and bad points in the very near future. [11-24-2004]

BUSINESS AS USUAL FOR BIR?

Although the racetrack is for sale and some officials have left, the 2005 season is still on at Brainerd (MN) International Raceway. In a story by Jason Henke in the Brainerd Daily

Dispatch, Marty Carlson of MG Carlson Construction Co., a construction company that has worked on the track is quoted as saying, "It's just for sale. It doesn't mean that the schedule or the format is going to change in any way."

Bill Singleterry, president and director of BIR, has retired and Scott Quick resigned as general manager in September. BIR is a subsidiary of Sports Resorts International Inc. based in Michigan, which also owns Rugged Liners Inc. Luckily, the winters are long in Minnesota, so they have lots of time to get everything worked out by next season. [11-24-2004]

RACERS SAVE JERSEY TRACKS

The bill before the New Jersey House concerning noise at racetracks, which the Agent spoke about on Nov. 17, has been withdrawn because of overwhelming opposition from the racing community. At least for the time being, the tracks won't be regulated out of existence. A tip of the Agent's fedora to the racers who spoke up and to the legistators who listened. And just in time for Thanksgiving! (11-24-2004)
