NHRA PRO MOD SCHEDULE

The 2005 AMS/TLR schedule has been released. It shows only 10 dates at NHRA National Events and four race dates that are yet to be determined. The agent has learned that one for sure and probably two of the four races will be held at NHRA’s Sportsnationals events, including the race at No Problem Dragway. The Pro Mods will supposedly be the feature attraction at those events. In all probability the other two dates will be part of Kenny Nowling’s American Drag Racing Series schedule and will be held at NHRA sanctioned 1/8th mile tracks which are yet to be determined.

CHEVY HEMI NITROUS MOTOR

Agent 1320 has learned that a Southern Outlaw Pro Mod team has purchased one of Sonny Leonard’s new Hemi-Chevy engines and dyno-tested it on nitrous at Leonard’s shop. According to Sonny the 737 “semi-hemi” engine made 1550hp on the motor alone and 1900hp on a single stage. Sources tell us that the engine is going in an Outlaw Pro Mod that has ran some low four-second times in competition and that the team is doing testing with a second stage hooked up in the next few weeks. COUGHLIN NOT CLOSING RACE CAR SHOP

There had been some speculation that the race shop might close with Jeg Jr. now driving for Team Schumacher (which means that he will now be driving a Mopar with a Bob Glidden 500 inch Hemi motor under the hood). However the Coughlin Family race shop won’t be closing. Instead it will be where all of the Coughlin’s Sportsman cars will be maintained. [11-22-04]
