NEW CLUB MEMBERSHIPS AVAILABLE

The IHRA and Lenco Transmissions announced yet another performance club for their mountain-motor Pro Stockers. This time it will be called the Lenco 6.30s Pro Stock Challenge which will be open to the first 16 racers to make a qualifying or elimination lap under 6.400 seconds. The formation of the Lenco 6.30s Club comes right after the completion of the Rick Jones Race Cars' Quarter-Max 6.40 Club which followed the original IHRA backed Six-Second Club and the Sonny Leonard 200-mph Club for Pro Stockers.

The first driver to run quicker than 6.40 will get $2,500 and the following 15 will receive $1,000 each. All members will receive a special club jacket and a plaque supplied by Lenco. The Lenco Pro Stock Challenge will automatically continue until the 2006 season or until the 16-member club is filled. [11-17-2004]

SHAMELESS ADVERTISER'S PLUG

Two DRO advertisers and FOBs (Friends of Burk), Steve Matusek of Aeromotive Inc. and Barry Grant of Barry Grant Fuel Systems, had good weekends at the SEMA Show earlier this month. Matusek's Aeromotive company, which make fuel pumps and other fuel system components, won the best new products award with their electronic float bowl sensor. The sensor will be of special interest to any drag racing team that uses carburetors, and also to NASCAR teams.

Barry Grant, whose company has branched out to make many more products than the carbs he originally began the company with, debuted his new three-valve small block Chevy head. [11-17-2004]
