CODY MAC BACK ON
TRACK
The Agent has learned that Cody McManama plans a full-season
run at the IHRA Pro Mod championship this year. The 22-year-old
stopped by Parker Chassis in Columbus, GA, on Jan. 8, to
pick up the silver 1963 'Vette that Dan Parker drove for
Mike Hill several times last year. The car, built by Jerry
Haas, will feature a Pat Musi EFI-nitrous engine between
the rails for Cody Mac's campaign.

NEW MANAGEMENT
Macon National Dragway announced it is beginning the new
year with a new management team, as Chris Phillips and Anthony
Oehler have taken over the helm of the mid-Georgia facility.
The two are also partners at Montgomery Motorsport Park
in Montgomery, AL. The former outlaw track has also taken
on NHRA sanctioning for 2005, and Phillips and Oehler met
Jan. 8, with NHRA Division 2 Director Bill Holt.
The first order of business is to clean and prep Macon
National's 1/8 mile of concrete for its first test-and-tune
on Feb. 6. The track will host a test-and-tune every Sunday
in February and plans to release its '05 schedule shortly.
Phillips and Oehler also stress that all race purses this
season at Macon are guaranteed. [1-10-2005]
KAASE TO SPONSOR IHRA PRO STOCK
TUNING CHALLENGE
IHRA and Kaase Racing Engines have announced the formation
of the Kaase
IHRA Pro Stock Tuning Challenge to reward Torco Race Fuels
Pro Stock competitors for their consistency during qualifying
at national events in 2005.
The Kaase IHRA Pro Stock Tuning Challenge pays out $500
to the driver who records the best average elapsed time
during qualifying at every IHRA national event. At the conclusion
of the season, the World Finals at Rockingham, the program
will award $2,000 to the competitor with the best average
qualifying elapsed time for the 12 Hooters IHRA Series national
events. Competitors must display the selected decal on both
sides of the entry car and run all qualifying sessions to
be eligible. [1-10-2005]
ALTERED
STATES
The Agent got the news recently that the NHRA (no doubt
after witnessing the favorable crowd response at last year's
U.S. Nationals and Winternationals) has decided to book
a fuel altered exhibition at four of its national events
in 2005: Atlanta, the U.S. Nationals, Dallas and the October
Las Vegas event. No news as to how many cars, but the Agent's
guess is that it will continue to be four. But wouldn't
an eight-car field be neat! Kudos and a tip o' the Agent's
fedora to the NHRA for this effort. [1-10-2005]
