IT FITS!

Anxious to get his program with Scotty and Scott Cannon going, the Agent hears that a couple of days after Larry Jeffers and the Cannon family came to an agreement Jeffers flew the younger Cannon to St. Louis to be fitted into the Jeffers '53 Vette he will be driving in 2005. [12-14-2004]

The Agent also confirmed that a recently married Dick Maskin has opted out of the NHRA Pro Stock wars but will still have a presence in drag racing. He will support his 2004 driver-clutch tuner Rickie Smith's Pro Modified team. Word has it that the multi-time IHRA World Champ will concentrate on the IHRA series but may run a few select AMS Pro Mod events.

The Agent's opinion is that if the rules do make five-second race cars out of the blower cars and the nitrous racers can't keep pace, there will be some tough decisions to be made as the season progresses. [12-14-2004]

ADDITIONS AND SUBTRACTIONS AT THE LIPAR CAMP

Agent 1320 heard a pretty good rumor that Von Smith will ankle the Tommy Lipar camp to be replaced by either Tommy Gray or Mitch Stott. One of those two drivers could replace Smith in the teams 2004 Mustang and the other would get the seat in a '57 Chevy the Lipar Camp has just acquired. We'll probably know what's up when pre-season testing for Pro Mods begins in Florida about the second week in January. [12-14-2004]

AREND GOES TO MONTE CARLO FOR 2005

Jeff Arend will debut his new CMKXtreme Monte Carlo Funny Car at the Winternationals, competing on the NHRA POWERade circuit for the entire season. Arend has been fitted for a new Murf McKinney chassis, the first time he has had a Funny Car specifically designed to his exact physical specifications. Paul Smith will again be calling the tuning shots on Arend's car. [12-14-2004]
