returning
to competition at Pomona this weekend. The Agent
spoke with the veteran driver and found that
the only testing he'd been doing was in his
bed at home fighting a touch of the flu.
Cory Mac is starting his 14th season in competition
and the popular driver reported that he would
run the entire NHRA schedule. He's signed a
three-year contract with the Boyz and the Boyz
have signed a two-year deal with Berryman Products.
He also said that the team would enter a few
IHRA races this season to test some "new parts
and combinations." Although he's never raced
in the IHRA, McClenathan added, "Hey, we just
might win one of those races."
He'll
keep his Anaheim shop for the West Coast racing
swings, but the team will still be headquartered
in the Boyz's Bristol, Tennessee home.

Carrier was shut off after the burnout by NHRA
Chief Starter Rick Stewart when he spotted a

4.80'S FOR AFD SAYS DAVE
SETTLES
Agent 1320 made a trip to Texas recently and
over a couple of cocktails with racer/tuner/engineer
Dave Settles -- who has more than a little expertise
in the area of injected nitro -- discussed the
performance possibilities of injected nitro
cars in IHRA Top Fuel competition. Settles opined
that "There is no doubt in my mind that with
the added cubic inches, weight break, and a
clutch management system that A/FD cars are
capable of running in the 4.80's and they will
do it without nitrous and hurting parts!"
The veteran tuner, who is currently working
as an engineer in the Dallas-Ft Worth area,
let the Agent know that he is ready to get back
into the nitro racing game if the right offer
comes along. Interested parties can contact
Dave Settles at (817) 431-0268
or (817) 235-8424.
