THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT!

Lions Gate Entertainment, an independent film entertainment studio, has signed on a primary advertising sponsor for Jim Head's new Funny Car team. Throughout the season, Head's Toyota Celica will display ads for various theatrical and DVD titles from among current releases and Lions Gate's library of more than 8,000 titles. In addition, this year Lions Gate will be major associate sponsor for Jerry Toliver's Toyota Celica. In 2003, the company was a sponsor of the Worsham Racing Team.

CLOSE SHAVE FOR TOLIVER & NHRA

Jerry Toliver's return to drag racing will be sponsored by the Schick Quattro razor and the NHRA also has gotten in on the deal by naming Schick the "Official Razor of NHRA." The Agent is happy to see new companies get involved with drag racing and help bring the sport into the mainstream. (We'll know we've arrived when we see the first Tide dragster.) With the costs involved in professional racing these days, we are learning that it is now about the marketing opportunities and return on investment. The Agent's head understands all this, but his heart says let's not forget that it's the on-track performance of driver and machine and the in-the-pits performance of tuner and crew that really are what drag racing is all about. BAZEMORE GETS JOB SECURITY WITH SCHUMACHER

Whit Bazemore has signed a multi-year agreement with Don Schumacher Racing to drive the Matco Tools Iron Eagle Dodge Stratus Funny Car in 2004 and beyond.

"This is my fourth year with Schumacher Racing and actually the first time I have a contract with Don," Bazemore said.

"It takes off a little bit of stress," he added. "When I had my own team all of my sponsorships were year to year. Having a multi-year agreement is going to enable my wife Michelle, and me to better plan our future." (Jeff Burk photo) [2-20-2004]
