The Nitto California NHRA Sport Compact Nationals
presented by Import Tuner will feature the debut
of a number of new racecars; among the will
be the 2004 Chevy Cavalier driven by 2003 Summit
Sport Compact PRO Front Wheel Drive champ Nelson
Hoyos.
In
2003 Hoyos' Ecotec-powered GM Racing Chevy Cavalier
scored seven national-event victories, raced
in all 10 final rounds and grabbed the No. 1
qualifying position in PRO FWD four times, posting
the fastest run of the class at 189.51 MPH.
If all goes well, Mopar's Shaun Carlson will
debut his PRO FWD Dodge SRT-4. It'll be down
to the wire since he was sidetracked subbing
for the injured Darrell Alderman in his Stratus
Pro Stock at Pomona, going out in the second
round to WJ.
