EUROPEAN WINS FIRST DIVISIONAL
EVENT
Dave "Grumpy" Wilson, 2003 FIA European Top
Methanol Dragster Champion, became the first
European to win an NHRA divisional event. His
American Car Imports Racing team qualified No.
2 and took the win at Tucson on March 28, his
sixtieth birthday. In the final round Wilson
ran 5.655/246.84 against Chris Demke's 5.689/250.74.
"We are all very proud indeed not just to win
the event, but also to be representing European
drag racing," said team pricipal Anthony Cohen.
"I honestly think that we are proving to the
Americans that European drag racing is a force
to be reckoned with, and I will take every opportunity
I can to remind them of it!"
