GLIDDEN STILL WORKING WITH MORGAN!!!

When you want the real truth about what’s going on in the world of drag racing trust DRO to bring you the real inside info. Larry Morgan told DRO that he and Glidden would be together as a team at Englishtown and beyond. DRO editor Jeff Burk talked to Larry Morgan on Tuesday afternoon and was assured by Morgan that he and Glidden had indeed split up at Columbus and it probably had something to do with Bob Glidden’s 18 hour a day, seven day a week schedule and the fact that Glidden expected that from Morgan and everyone that worked at Larry Morgan Racing.

“We had a falling out about that stuff and the fact that Rusty Glidden was working Mopar about fielding as second car,” Morgan told Burk. “But, Bob and I are a lot alike and we fight a lot. It’s the way we are it doesn’t mean anything between us.”

The problem came when my employees starting getting leaned on by Bob.” Morgan said. “He went to work for about four hours for Jegs but then came back and him and I got everything worked out. I absolutely guarantee that Bob Glidden and Larry Morgan will be working together at Englishtown and that we will have a blockbuster announcement about the team at Englishtown.”

Morgan wouldn’t tell the Burkster what the announcement was but a source tells agent 1320 that Gene Wilson’s name possibly could come up in the announcement. Let’s be clear though, Larry Morgan gave absolutely no mention of Wilson’s name while talking to Burk. [6-15-2004]

HART RECOVERING

C.J. Hart, 93, continues to recover from the serious stroke he suffered May 27, while home alone. He temporarily lost all use of his right arm and leg, as well as the ability to speak.

His mind and memory were not affected.

The lifelong Ford man has regained enough of his speech to trade insults with GM and Mopar fans on the rehabilitation center staff, according to family members. Pappy was particularly cheerful after watching Mark Martin’s recent NASCAR victory on videotape.

The family expresses deep gratitude to NHRA’s Safety Safari physician, Joseph Oliver, for pressuring the staffs of two hospitals and, now, the rehab center into giving C.J. proper medication and attention. “Doc Oliver has been a miracle,” said Jerry Hart. “He saved Pappy’s life. I have no doubt that my dad would have died in the hospital, had this doctor not raised so much hell on his behalf.” Jerry adds, “Unfortunately, Doc Oliver drives a Chevy pickup, so he’s getting plenty of grief from Pappy.”

C.J. still cannot receive telephone calls, but he’s anxious to read your cards and letters and videos, so let’s all send some cheerful mail
to: C.J. Hart, c/o ManorCare, Room 200-A, 11680 Warner Ave., Fountain
Valley, CA 92708. Electronic messages at: cjpappyhart@aol.com.

According to his son, Pappy is determined to make his annual appearance at the NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion in October. Please let C.J. know that we’re all expecting to see him at Famoso.—DAVE WALLACE JR. [6-15-2004]
