THE RETURN OF PRO MOD WAD
The Agent is very happy to report the return
of that Guru of Gas, Omniscient Oracle of Oxide,
Know-it-all of Nitrous, the one, the only Pro
Mod Wad, or as the IRS knows him, Wady Hamam.
Wady has returned to the scene as a technical
advisor and all around answer man for ex-NOS
owner Mike Thermos who has now opened a nitrous
tech center for the Holley NOS brand of nitrous
oxide injection systems. Want to talk to Wad?
Need a question answered? Call Nitrous Supply
at 714-373-1986 and ask for Pro Mod Wad.
Welcome back, Wad, from the Agent and all the
folks at DRO. We've missed your cheerful, un-sarcastic
self. [6-14-2004]
SURF'S UP, DUDE
Nostalgia
Funny Car driver and Drag Racing Online columnist,
Jeff Utterback, played drums with with legendary
surf band, The Surfaris, at the 11th annual
Balboa Island (Calif.) Parade. Five thousand
Balboa Island residents, merchants and friends
moved and grooved to the sound of the Surfaris'
hit "Wipeout" as their float made its way down
Marine Avenue on Sunday, June 6.
Apparently a good right foot for the pedal
translates from Funny Car to bass drum. Utterback,
who has been playing drums for 30 years, has

than 15 years. Considered the "go-to guy" for
surf drums, he is often called in by the Surfaris
to sub when their regular drummer is unavailable.
Utterback drives a '70 'Cuda Funny Car which
is owned by Jeff Gaynor and wrenched on by legendary
crew chief Mike Demarest. The team has been
firing-up the nostalgia racing scene and most
recently was runner-up at the Goodguys' Las
Vegas Nitro Nationals Nostalgia Drags. (photo
