A
special CD titled "Hot from the Strip" has been
released in conjunction with the 35th annual
K&N Filters NHRA SuperNationals at Englishtown,
NJ to help raise funds for Becky White, the
publisher of Quick Times Racing News who was
injured in an auto accident earlier this year.
The hour-long CD features drag racing tunes
from the Blast First/Mute/EMI recording duo
Big Stick, which includes drag journalist Diana
"the Doc" Thomas. "Hot from the Strip" also
features some extremely rare, old-school drag
racing commercials, snippets from Wildgirl's
Rock-n-Racing radio archives, featuring an interview
with the late "Big Daddy" Roth, and the voices
of drag racing champions John Force, Don Prudhomme,
Cruz Pedregon and others. Additionally, there's
a "Sounds of the Drags" segment recorded at
Old Bridge Township Raceway Park with live recordings
of all types of hot rods, including Top Fuel
dragsters and Funny Cars.
"Hot from the Strip" will be available at Old
Bridge Township Raceway Park's souvenir stores
during the June 17-20 SuperNationals, or by
calling 718-626-6457. [6-14-2004]

of the class. In the two races at 20% the bump
spot has averaged about 6.31 seconds. The Low
E.T. has been a 6.17, a number first recorded
by Fred Hahn and Jim Oddy in 2000 in Grand Bend,
Canada. This year the low e.t. at the Grand
Bend event was a 6.221.
At the Virginia race the spread between the
number one qualifier and the bump was about
15 hundredths. At Grand Bend it was about eight
hundredths. At Virginia the qualified field
was evenly divided between supercharged and
nitrous cars. At Grand Bend four nitrous cars
and 12 blown cars made up the field. One blower
car and one nitrous car have made it to the
winner's circle. [6-14-2004]
