CRANE CAMS BRACES FOR HURRICANE
DRO received a note from Gene Ezzell, President
of Crane Cams in Daytona Beach, Florida to
say that because of the uncertain course of
Hurricane Frances, Crane would be closing at
noon (ET) on Sept. 2. They plan to re-open
at 8:00 a.m. on the 7th, if they are spared
by the storm.
Ezzell added, “Please excuse this inconvenience
and keep us and all of the residents of Florida
in your prayers.”

After the recent devastation of the state
by Hurricane Charley, the Agent can only say
a heart-felt “Amen.” [9-2-2004]
MAYBE NOT SO FUNNY AT HOT ROD REUNION
Will Nostalgia Funny Cars have their own eliminator
at the upcoming Hot Rod Reunion or not? Evidently
that question doesn’t have an answer
yet. The Agent’s operatives have placed
several calls to the offices at the Wally Parks
Museum and left messages with Mr. Greg Sharp,
who we are told will make the decision about
the nitro cars competing. So far he hasn’t
returned any calls. Perhaps he will have time
for the Nitro Flopper teams after the U.S.
Nationals. In the meantime, many teams are
putting their efforts to build cars for the
event on hold. [9-2-2004]
BG PRO STOCK TEAM PROGRESS
Carburetor king and part-time Pro Stock driver
Barry Grant recently made a few laps at DRO’s
home track in St. Louis, perhaps preparing
for the upcoming U.S. Nationals. Evidently
the new Pro Stock emporium he is building near
Charlotte, NC is moving right along. The Agent
hears that the two guys heading up Grant’s
Pro Stock engine program are former Dale Earnhardt
Enterprises employee Jim Gammmache and Gary
Pearman who spent some time working for the
Jeg’s Pro Stock team among others. [9-2-2004]
DEPT. OF CORRECTIONIS
Top Fuel racer turned questionable fishing
boat pilot, Paul Romine, reminded the Agent
that this past cover photo was misidentified.
The photo is actually of Ron Boggs driving
the family altered, with brother Steve running
away.
Guess DRO editor Jeff Burk needs to wear a hat
more often to protect the "little gray cells." [9-2-2004]
