SIX-OHS FROM NITROUS PRO
MOD LEGEND RICKIE SMITH!?
Steve Gruenwald photo
Agent
1320 heard straight from the source after Rickie
Smith ran a series of "four-ohs" at over 188
mph in the eighth in his new Jerry Bickel '63
'Vette. How good is that speed? The fastest
that Jim Oddy's cars have ever run in the eighth
is 183 and change. Smith is telling anyone that
will listen that if someone will "pay the freight"
he could run a six-oh something pass in legal
IHRA Pro Mod trim anytime anywhere. The Agent
hopes someone gives "Tricky Rickie" the money.
If he then runs a couple of six-oh laps maybe
the honchos at IHRA will see the light and take
a little weight off of the blower cars. Then
the Agent and the Pro Mod fans can start anticipating
the first legal five-second Pro Mod pass. (Rickie

KNOLL GOES NITRO
Agent 1320 hears that Evan Knoll, the owner
of Torco Race Fuels, will be getting his first
taste of driving a Top Fueler in competition
this weekend during the IHRA race at Martin,
MI. Apparently Mr. Knoll will be driving one
of Bruce Litton's Top Fuel cars and veteran
tuner Jimmy Walsh will be twirling the wrenches.

A couple of names were inadvertently left off
the final round results from the Sonoma coverage.
