STEWART JOINS CARRIER BOYZ
Veteran crew chief John Stewart joined Carrier
Boyz Racing as co-crew chief on the Carrier
Boyz Berryman Products Top Fuel Dragster.
"Todd Smith is crew chief for our program
here at Carrier Boyz Racing and we have brought
John Stewart on as co-crew chief to be another
set of eyes Todd," said Cory McClenathan. "In
this day and time, as complex as these Top
Fuel dragsters are, two heads are better than
one. This is especially true when you're up
against cars like the three Kalitta cars, Dick
LaHaie's and Tim Richards' beer cars and the
Army of One car of Alan Johnson.
"Todd and John worked real good together
last year when all three of us were with Darrell
Gwynn Racing. This year Todd has done real
well taking this car to two finals, winning
one; but if you are going to chase a championship
you need a total package and that what's we
have with Todd and John. Together they do such
a good job. It's hard to overlook that." [9-28-2004]

STATS
DRO's stat man, Jim Hawkins, threw together
some interesting facts about Dave Connolly
and how he stacks up compared to some other
drivers. Jim says: What I did was simply
compute the percentage of times a driver wins
on a holeshot per round and threw out guys

like Albert Clark who's only win was a holeshot
in 1987. Remember, my stats only go back
to 1987. What I found was not surprising, but
it's always good to see the real stats and
just not what we think or feel.
Here is the list of the driver, where they
ranked and percentage of times per round the
driver wins on a holeshot: 1. Dave Connolly
14.5%;
2. Butch Leal 14.4%; 3. Mike Edwards 13.9%;
4. Alan Johnson 13.8%; 5. Jeg Coughlin 13.4%;
6. Rickie Smith 13.2%; 7. Mark Whisnant 12.2%;
8. Tom Martino 12.0%; 9. George Marnell 11.0%;
10. Mark Osborne 10.6%
Where do some of the other 'greats" from
Pro Stock rank?

Alderman 7.0%; Bruce Allen 7.6%; Bob Glidden
4.1%; Larry Morgan 7.1%; Mark Pawuk 5.9% and

QUADRA
JETS
Earlier, the Agent asked for photos of Carolyn
Campbell's run in a dragster powered by four
jet engines at England's Santa Pod Raceway.
Melvyn Record tipped us to this photo from www.eurodragster.com. [9-28-2004]
SURVIVING JEANNE
Tracy Winters informs us that J.W. Performance
Transmissions survived Jeanne, along with Charley,
Frances and Ivan. Over the past six weeks four
hurricanes have created a direct impact on
the state of Florida. The Rockledge, FL facility
maintained minimal damage and all sectors of
the company are functioning. The Agent hopes
all of the other Florida-based businesses are
doing as well. [9-28-2004]
