forcing a three-week postponement of the concluding event
in the 12-race 2005 IHRA Hooters Drag Racing Series. The
race will be held Oct. 28-30.
"It's very frustrating to have 486
race teams on the grounds and then have to postpone the
event," said track owner Steve Earwood. "According
to all the forecasts, the weather wasn't likely to clear
until Monday, at the earliest. So we felt, for the benefit
of the racers, fans and sponsors, it would be best to
go ahead and postpone now rather than to wait around in
the rain all weekend for what likely would be the same
result." [10-07-2005]
MORE NEWS AND RUMORS
In the 1320 note the Agent put up regarding
Mike Ashley’s new Camaro, we called it a ’69.
The Agent has been informed that it is actually a ’67
Camaro, and it has one of those ultra-aero bodies like
the one on Mike Stawicki’s ’67 Camaro. The
Agent also mentioned that Danny Rowe acquired a new Pro
Mod—one of the Agent’s operatives dropped
a note to say that Rowe bought the ex-Doc Perkins car.
On the nitro scene, the Agent hears that
Del Worsham’s “Blue Max” replica went
6.15 in testing at the ’Plex. We haven’t been
able to verify that rumor. Also, the Agent hears the old
pal Robert Reehl is going to drive the Western Rock Top
Fuel car after the owner of that car supposedly had less
than friendly split with Scott Palmer. [10-07-2005]
