'WELL DONE' SAYS THE AGENT

A big tip of the Agent’s helmet to “Super Class” racer Jim Hughes, who doubled up in the winners circle at Dallas with wins in both the Super Comp and Super Gas classes. The only other racers the agent knows of that has accomplished this feat at the same event is Edmund Richardson.

Also, kudos to Texas Motorplex owner Billy Meyer and his staff for turning their track over to the Belle Rose, Lousiana, track owners. Because of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita the Belle Rose track couldn’t host its scheduled division race so Meyer allowed the race to be held at his facility with all of the receipts going to the Belle Rose track owners. Well done, Mr. Meyer. (Chris Caspers photo) [10-21-2005]

MR. WILSON IS COOL, TOO!

DRO's Dale Wilson took his supercharged small block digger to the NHRA Division 2 Bracket Finals last weekend and won the Cool Radiator Coolest Car (Best Engineered) Award for the Super Pro division. A tip of the Agent's hat to Dale and especially to his lovely wife, Fran, who keeps Dale in line and out of trouble.  (Marvin Smith photo) [10-21-2005]

ALABAMA RACER KILLED

James Michael "Mike" Reed was fatally injured during the "Big Dawg Shootout" held Oct. 15 at Mobile Dragway in Irvington, AL. Reed, 42, of Saraland, was driving his nitrous oxide-assisted Camaro Outlaw Pro Mod when he lost control. The car struck the retaining wall and continued off the end of the racetrack and into a wooded area. It overturned at least once, coming to rest on its roof. Reed was flown by helicopter to the University of South Alabama Medical Center, where he later died of severe head injuries. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. [10-21-2005]
