The
Agent thought our readers might like a little more info
on the '77 'Stang. First the numbers: 60-ft: 1.060; 330-ft:
2.711; 660-ft: 3.974/197.10 mph; 1,000-ft: 5.054; and
1,320-ft: 5.970/244.69.
And the "Max" is absolutely VRA legal! It weighed
2,295 lbs. after the run, which is about 40 lbs. over
the minimum. The team had 90 lbs. of weight bolted to
the car to keep it legal, but say they are going to take
a little more weight off for the next run. It has a 118-inch
wheelbase chassis and a stock '77 Funny Car body with
no windows, no spoiler, and no ground effects. The 426-inch
Hemi uses a single Mallory mag, a 6-71 BDS blower, and
a 20-gallon Waterman pump that flows 19.8 gallons. A 3:90
rear gear ratio, with a 31 percent under-drive transmission
complete the package.
Raymond
Beadle, who drove the original version (shown), was in
attendance at Dallas and said his old car never ran that
quick. Now, the Agent can't wait to see the new car make
a lap. (DRO file photo by Tim

HOLD YER HORSES
Here are a couple of shots of
Joe Mondello driving the Auto Club of Southern California
1909 'Speedster' before and after he crashed into the
Auto Club bag rack at the California Hot Rod Reunion.
Apparently he couldn't find the handbrake in time. (Lou
