A NEW AA/GS FOR GOODGUYS
Agent 1320 hears that Goodguys racer Daryl Jensen is leaving
the A/FD ranks as a driver and moving to the doorslammer
division. Jensen just felt his blown, small block combination
wasn't going to be competitive with the fuel volume (7
gal.) he was restricted to and the additional volume Goodguys
gave to the injected nitro cars. He has ordered a ’59
Corvette from Jeffers Pro Cars in Missouri and an Alan
Johnson wedge motor. The AA/GS Goodguys class is a weight
to cubic inch class and that makes it a DRO fave. [11-17-2005]

Bob
Gilbertson, owner/driver of the Autolite XP Spark Plugs/Prestone
Antifreeze nitro Funny Car, will compete at all 11 IHRA
National Events that the Torco Racing Fuels Pro Nitro
Funny Car class is contested.
Gilbertson, who has one IHRA nitro Funny Car victory to
his credit, the 1992 Snap-on Tools Summernationals at
Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario, Canada, is
looking forward to returning to the series where he started
his Funny Car career.
"Now that IHRA has brought back the most popular
class in drag racing, nitro Funny Cars, to their program,
we're going to run all of their events that don't conflict
with our NHRA schedule that we're committed to for our
sponsors," Gilbertson said.
"I've got to thank Evan Knoll for spearheading the
effort to bring the class back and bringing his sponsorship
dollars to the IHRA. This is big for me, my sponsors and
my team.
"To have the opportunity to run for the IHRA Championship
and race in markets where we haven't been in a long time
is a great opportunity." (Jeff
