Joey Martin of Milton, FL, will be the lead driver for Mike Ashley's new Pro Modified team that he has formed with Tim Tindle,

president and owner of Tindle Enterprises. Martin will drive Ashley's '67 Shelby Mustang for Tindle Ashley Racing Enterprises.

Ashley, the 2005 AMS Pro Mod Champion, will be driving a Funny Car next year although he says he has ordered a '67 Camaro Pro Mod that he will drive on a limited schedule. With 23 events on the NHRA POWERade series, the Agent would think that Ashley's full rookie year as a FC pilot would be hectic enough without trying to drive another car also. Whew. [12-05-2005]

HEY, THESE AREN'T FUNNY CARS

The Agent got some photos of Brut Funny Car pilot Ron Capps taken during a family Thanksgiving get together near the family home in San Lois Obispo, CA. Ron's father, brother Jon and his cousin all went up to a nearby private motocross track to let off some steam in the dirt.

Meanwhile fellow flopper drivers Gary Scelzi and Cruz Pedregon raced their open wheel cars on the paved ovals at SoCal's Irwindale Speedway for the USAC Thanksgiving Night Grand Prix.

Prior to the event Scelzi got a call on his cell from Don Schumacher wondering why "Shoe" had not been informed about this midget entry. Guess Scelzi figured it would be easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission. Scelzi fought his way as high as 7th place in the Ford Focus Midget race before spinning in traffic on the 13th lap, moving him to the rear of the pack. He finished 21st out of 26 entries.

USAC/CRA sprint car champion Damion Gardner failed to qualify for the Midget Main in a brand new car owned by Cruz Pedregon and sponsored by Advance Auto Parts. Cruz and Damion ran some events earlier this season on the dirt track at Ventura Raceway. [12-05-2005]
