WERKS FOR RAU

Brent Rau at OSOFAST Racing driving a GM-backed Cobalt Sport Compact car ran the reportedly quickest and fastest FWD pass ever with 7.292s at 201.61 at Norwalk Raceway and ended the season with an unheard-of 7.12s run at NHRA Pomona.

BorgWarner Turbo Systems advanced its AirWerks program by developing, building and testing custom-hybrid S400SX turbochargers for two record setting race teams. The specialized factory-developed turbo configuration provides ultra-fast spool-up response and more than 60 PSI of boost. The GM Racing Pro-FWD Cobalt reportedly is the only front-wheel-drive and the only four-cylinder to surpass 200 mph in the quarter mile.  [12-28-2005]

NEW PAINT, SAME OLD BODY FOR WHIT

THANK YOU SIR, MAY I HAVE ANOTHER?

The US Army recruiting advertising account recently changed ad agencies and with that comes the announcement that the Army will no longer be a major sponsor of NASCAR, although they will continue to sponsor the car driven by Joe Nemechek. One analyst suggests the changing face of NASCAR fans away from the traditional hands-on “do-it-yourselfer” men to a more mainstream family-oriented show has made the change necessary.

According to Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal the Army will spend the money it would have used in NASCAR for "grassroots programs supporting the Army's primary sponsorship objective of generating recruiting leads." The Agent would like to point out that the Army couldn’t find a more visible grassroots program than the series of Prudhomme funny cars they sponsored back a few years ago.  Its time for an Army backed fuel coupe!
