BABY NEEDS A NEW PAIR OF (ADRL)
SHOES
Bill
“Mr. 200-mph doorslammer” Kuhlmann told the
Agent today that he is coming out of semi-retirement and
will return to the professional drag racing scene with
the ADRL this year.
"I’m going to run the same nitro/alky-burning
engine combination (Arias/Chevy) that I had in 2000. I’ve
still got a lot of new parts for that combination lying
around," he said.
He’ll also have as a partner Chuck Miller, who
worked with him when he was last active, and a fabricator/racer
by the name of Jeff Richardson. The main reason for returning
Kuhlmann said is "I just found out that my wife is
pregnant and at fifty-something I’m going to be
a father again. I’m going to need the money, and
baby will need a new pair of shoes!"
But seriously, folks, ba-da-bing! Kuhlmann did say that
he has been wanting to get back in racing for a while
and the ADRL Pro Extreme class offered him the best opportunity
to do that. (Jeff Burk photo)

NEW GM FOR ROCKINGHAM
Rockingham Dragway's owner, Steve Earwood, has named Barry
Rosen as the general manager for the track. Since 2003
Rosen's company, Dragway Concessions, Inc., has been the
official concessionaire for the North Carolina track.
Rosen assumed his new duties on Jan. 1, 2006.
"Bringing
Barry on as general manager and giving him responsibility
for the day-to-day operation will allow me to focus on
the increasingly time-consuming job of sponsor relations,"
Earwood said. "It also should give me more time to
devote to the three P's that are so important to our future:
public relations, press and politics.
"Racing has become more and more political,"
Earwood continued, "and it is in that area that I
think I can do the most to insure the future of the racetrack."
Earwood serves on the Board of the North Carolina Motorsport
Association and is a member of North Carolina Governor
Mike Easley's Motorsports Advisory Council.
