STILL SEARCHIN'

As the Coasters sang in 1957, "I been searchin'"
and that’s what AMS/TLR Pro Mod Challenge Champ
Mike Ashley says he’s been doing.
In an interview on the SIRIUS Satellite "Speedway"
motorsports show this week Ashley said he's got about
75 percent of the funding needed for keeping the NHRA
door open for Pro Mods in 2006 including a TV package.
Ashley said that it's looking good for the remaining
money required and he'll make an announcement by January
15th. [1-04-2006]
TINSLEY
UPDATE
The Agent has received some good news on the condition
of photographer Jeff Tinsley, who was diagnosed with a
brain tumor last year. Word from one of Tinsley's colleagues
at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, is that
the tumor has shrunk from the size of a lemon to that
of a pencil eraser.
The doctors aren't sure exactly why the tumor shrunk,
but those of us who know Tinsley are taking this as a
very special Christmas present. (DRO

SPEEDWAY/DRAGSTRIP
HISTORY
The Agent received a copy of Allan E. Brown's "The
History of America's Speedways Past & Present."
Brown has been publishing the indispensable National
Speedway Directory since 1975.
The book has over 700 black and white photos, some
current and some historical, of drag strips and
circle tracks from each of the 50 states and Canada.
At about $30 it's a bargain.
If you're interested, contact speedways@dnx.net
and tell him the Agent sent you. [1-04-2006]
