YOUTH NOT SERVED BY RACING?
The Agent came across this statistic the other day. Apparently
one of the liquor distillers who has a sponsorship in NASCAR
did a survey and discovered that a whopping 88 percent of
NASCAR fans were over the age of 21! The Agent wonders if
those same figures apply to NHRA and IHRA drag racing? [3-15-2005]
SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS?

The Agent has noted many staged PR events this season involving
U.S. Military personnel. We here at DRO applaud racers such
as Doug Herbert on his inclusion of returning Iraq War vets
who will gain VIP status at this week's Gatornationals,
however a quick call to the NHRA ticket office still finds
no offer of a special reduced rate for uniformed military
vets at NHRA national events.
The Agent called the ticket office at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
where vets are offered special ticket prices for NASCAR
Friday and Saturday qualifying which usually includes a
Craftsman Truck race or a Busch series event. IHRA also
offers a military discount ticket deal for their national
events.
Come on NHRA, are there any sold out Friday and Saturday
race dates that couldn't help to fill the stands by offering
a reduced ticket price to our men and women in uniform,
not just a few VIP's? [3-15-2005]
BIG BRACKET BUCKS AT MONTGOMERY
NHRA and IHRA national, divisional and Million Dollar drag
racing heroes vied for big bracket bucks at Montgomery (Alabama)
Motorsports Park’s first 2005 Fistful of Dollars race,
held on March 4-6.
Scotty Richardson, of Springfield, Tennessee scored first,
winning Friday’s money by beating another old pro,
Ken Sullivan of West Carrollton, Ohio. The big money went
to Randy Folk of Bradenton, Florida on Saturday, when he
beat Shannon Flinn of Allentown, Florida for the $100,000
first-place prize. And on Sunday evening, Tracy Sons of
Nashville, Tennessee won in his dragster over John Parkes
of LeRoy, Michigan.
Other winners included David Taylor of Moody, Alabama in
the Ray Miller Race Cars Quick 32 race, and Dan Northrup
of Doylesville, Pennsylvania in Thursday’s gamblers
race. [3-15-2005]
