DRAGPALOOZA DATE CHANGES TO MAY
20-22
The ADRL DRAGPALOOZA at Valdosta, Ga., the second of six
events on the 2005 FLOWMASTER American Drag Racing League
schedule, has been moved to new dates of May 20-22. The
move away from the event’s original May 6-8 dates
will help ADRL and its broadcast partners with production
of Adrenaline: The Series, a unique reality-based program
that begins airing next month on The Men’s Channel.
The date change will also ease travel schedules for Outlaw
Pro Mod drivers who compete on both the FLOWMASTER ADRL
and AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Challenge presented by TLR
tours, as there are AMS/TLR events scheduled for four consecutive
weekends in April.
The DRAGPALOOZA event will open with test passes and grudge
racing on Friday, May 20. Three rounds of qualifying and
eight-car eliminators will be held in both the Pro Extreme
and Pro Nitrous categories on Saturday, and Sunday will
feature the ADRL’s unique 22-car, three-round Team
Challenge concept. The competition in Valdosta will consist
of top drivers from both the ADRL and AMS/TLR tours squaring
off in "The Rematch" from the first-ever ADRL
event last fall in Jackson, SC. (Jeff

Dragway, Huntsville, Alabama. Others teams who have pre-entered
include the legendary Jack Ostrander and Texas Outlaw

and Virgil Hartman (two cars), and IHRA regular C.J. Nelson.
Doug Herbert has also expressed interest in attending
but hasn’t yet
committed.
The race will be an NHRA “National Open” where
sportsman cars can race, set records and get those valuable
grade points. Stay tuned for more news. This is getting
good. (Ron Lewis photo) [3-14-2005]
