GOODBYE SOUTHEASTERN?
The Agent heard a rumor, neither confirmed nor denied,
that Southeastern International Dragway in Dallas, Georgia,
may be sold to make way for more subdivisions. Already,
the eighth-mile track is surrounded by subdivisions, and
an 11 p.m. curfew has been in effect for a couple of years.
The rumor has it that the track will soon be sold for yet
another subdivision, seeing as that land in the area is
going for $30,000 per acre and a drag strip of any kind
could never generate the kind of revenue a developer would
pay to a land owner for such prime real estate.
If true, both situations would put Atlanta and all of north-central
Georgia without an active drag strip. We'll have to wait
and see what --- literally --- develops. [4-4-2005]
KORETSKY ON NITRO

The Agent spoke with Mopar pro stock pilot Kenny Koretsky
who said he's had several meetings with an existing nitro
team and is working on a couple of deals that would get
him into NHRA top fuel racing. Kenny who also owns Nitrofish
Wear said, "There's always a chance that it might not
get done, but things are moving along. I won't be the driver
and after this season I'll be cutting my own pro stock driving
program back to 10 or 12 events to pay attention to my businesses."

COOL ART
One
of the Agent's artistic buddies from SoCal, Dan Quarnstrom
is part of an exhibit of hot rod and drag art titled "Hot
Chicks and Cool Rides". Ol' Dan is among a bunch of
other cool artists ranging from "Big Daddy" Ed
Roth, COOP, The Pizz, S. Clay Wilson, SHAG, hot rod photographer
David Perry and the legendary Robert Williams.
Some 30 or so rat rods, coupes, bikes, babes
and pinstripers gathered outside the Mendenhall Sobieski
Gallery in Pasadena, CA to party at the exhibit opening.
The show runs through May 3, 2005.
