OUTLAW TOP FUEL RACE AT HUNTSVILLE
George Howard, who promotes the $1,000,000 bracket race
has joined forces with Drag Racing Online to put on an
Outlaw Top Fuel and Pro Mod race (that's right, "Outlaw
Top Fuel Race") on July 3 & 4 at the legendary
Huntsville, Alabama eighth-mile facility.
The Top Fuel race will have an eight-car qualified field
and will pay the winner $40,000, the runner-up $20,000,
qualifiers $10,000 and the ninth and tenth qualifiers $2,500.
The driver with the lowest ET of the event will get an
additional $5,000. An Outlaw Pro Mod race will also be
run. That purse hasn't been determined yet but Howard has

committed to paying the Pro Mod with the Low ET
of the race $1,000 and he will put up $5,000 for any Pro
Mod that runs over 200 mph at this race.
"I want to put on a 'National Event' for Outlaws,
eighth-mile racers and fans. We are going to establish
the eighth-mile record for Top Fuel cars and hopefully
for all other classes," said DRO editor, Jeff Burk.
The NHRA-sanctioned facility will also offer NHRA class
cars the opportunity to set national records. Pre-entries
in Top Fuel and Pro Mod are now being solicited. For more
info contact Jeff Burk at 636-272-6301 or watch for more
info concerning purses here in Agent 1320 in the coming
days.
George Howard told the Agent, "At this race our motto
is 'take the weight out and tip the can.'"
The Agent is already making reservations at the local
Holiday Inn. He wouldn't miss the opportunity to see Outlaw
Top Fuelers and Pro Mods under the lights on the 4th of
July! [3-10-2005]
SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE
A BAD DAY
Super Comp racer Kimberly Yancer took a wild ride

Upside-down, but at least she's not on fire. Look

The Agent always likes to pass along
interesting race shop photos, but this one really brought
back some memories. These shots are of Don "the
Snake" Prudhomme's Vista, CA shop and some of
the handiwork of SoCal shop manager Willie Wolter.
Wolter is also in charge of Snake's restoration projects
and is often out scouring the hot rod swap meets to
find a piece or two of history in order to complete
work on a legendary racecar. Both the yellow and white
Hot Wheels Barracudas were part of an exhibit at the
NHRA Motorsports Museum. The Agent thinks this garage
may contain the ultimate drag racing super team. [3-10-2005] |
