SOUTHERN DRAGWAY SOLD
Southern Dragway has reportedly been sold to Tim Pafford,
who ran U.S. 41 Dragway in Albany, GA. Southern Dragway
is located in Douglas, GA, and was recently put up for sale
to the highest bidder.(As the Agent noted in March, the
track was even listed on eBay.) Word has it that the eighth-mile
track will continue to have a bracket program, plus other
special events. No word yet on its sanctioning leanings
("member-track," in association-speak). [5-3-2005]

MARTIN NMRA EVENT TO FINISH AT MAPLE
GROVE
The
weather didn't exactly cooperate for the National Mustang
Racers Association's event in Martin, MI, with 30-degree
temperatures and rain, causing the event to end with only
a few rounds of eliminations left on Sunday, May 1. The event
will be completed at Maple

Grove Raceway on June 10-12.
The Diablosport Pro 5.0 race was the only one completed
at Martin, with Tom Jacobs of Rapid City, MI getting the
win in his '67 Mustang. It is Jacobs' first year running
with the NMRA.
Of major note was the first loss for Charlie Booze in more
than 14 months, as his car did a major wheelstand against
Andy Schmidt. The Agent bets that Booze will have that problem
corrected by the time he gets to Maple Grove. [5-3-2005]
HENRY FORD INDUCTS GLIDDEN INTO HALL-OF-
FAME
Bob Glidden and Joe Amato were recently inducted into the
International Motorsports Hall-of-Fame in Talladega, Alabama.
NHRA’s voice Bob Frey inducted his homeboy Joe Amato
into the hall and the Agent’s source at the event
said that Mr. Frey's performance was eloquent and heartfelt.
At that same event Bob Glidden was inducted by none other
than Henry Ford III and John Force gave fellow NHRA racer
Greg Anderson his racer-of-the-year award. Included in the
audience were NASCAR prez Mike Helton who was seen working
the room after the event like a politician, going from table
to table greeting the stars of auto racing and NHRA prez
Tom Compton. Kudos from everyone at DRO to inductees Bob
Glidden, Joe Amato and award-winner Greg Anderson.
