FORCE SHORN
Maybe it was an early Father's Day present or maybe John
was just trying to save some money since all three of the
girls seem headed to driving racecars, but for whatever
reason, John Force's daughters, Ashley, Brittney and Courtney,
gave dad a haircut June 5 at the Fontana, CA racetrack.

"The
Dukes of Hazzard," is based on the original characters
of the hit television series that ran from 1979-85 that
followed the trials and tribulations of the Duke family
and their run-ins with Jefferson Davis "J.D."
Hogg. The movie, slated for summer release, stars Johnny
Knoxville, Seann William Scott, and Jessica Simpson, with
Burt Reynolds as Boss Hogg and Willie Nelson as Uncle Jesse.
Four-time consecutive IHRA Top Fuel World Champion Clay
Millican will even be driving a Top Fuel dragster with a
Dukes of Hazzard-themed paint scheme. "I think everybody
knows that my first race car was a '69 Charger, painted
just like the General Lee," said Millican. "This
is going to be a real cool deal for our team, for IHRA,
and the Motor City Nationals."
Aaron Polburn hopes that this sponsorship is a harbinger
of things to come for IHRA and its national event schedule.
"We're definitely looking into the possibilities of
non-traditional sponsorships for our events," the IHRA
president said. "It's a brave new world, and we're
hoping that bringing 'The Dukes of Hazzard' on board as
a title sponsor for one of our premier events is just the
tip of the iceberg." [6-6-2005]
GANAHL SPREEKT HET 'DUTCH'
Over
the weekend, journalist Pat Ganahl was out at Autobooks
in Burbank, CA to sign copies of his new book "Von
Dutch: The Art, The Myth, The Legend". Ganahl used
stories and quotes culled from interviews, vintage photos
and images of Von Dutch's art and other works he left behind.
This book chronicles the life of the mysterious father of
modern pinstriping who was a major influence on 1950's pop
culture and it sets the story straight on Kenneth "Von
Dutch" Howard. (Darr Hawthorne
