KUHNS ADDING SONNY LEONARD SEMI-HEMI HEADS
West Coast Pro Mod racer Kirk Kuhns supposedly will have
a 526 ci Sonny Leonard Semi-Hemi in the Viper he qualified
at Chicago last weekend. According to the Agent's sources
Kuhns and West Coast racer John "Wapado" Scalpi
have been working on a five-inch bore center engine with
Sonny's heads for competition in NHRA AMS/TLR competition.
The Agent wonders if that engine would be legal for IHRA
Pro Mod competition with a five-inch bore centered block?

The Blue Ridge Mountains that is, and mountain-motor wiz
Sonny Leonard's engine shop. Troy Coughlin's NMCA Pro Streeter
will have an 815 cubic inch Sonny Leonard engine under
the hood of the team's Cavalier. One of the Agent's operatives
was in Leonard's Lynchburg, Virginia shop when the engine
was being dyno tested.
Interestingly, EFI wizard John Meany was on hand to personally
oversee the installation of his new EFI program on the
815 ci Semi-Hemi Chevy. The Agent was sworn to secrecy
but can tell you that the engine made way over 1700 hp
(corrected) during the dyno session. (Jeff
