PRO MOD SERIES AT GATEWAY JUNE 18
The Jeffers Midwest Pro Mod Series will return to Gateway
Raceway, just outside of St. Louis, for the third of six
events this season. Bill Hill (shown) won the first eighth-mile
event, but was hard-pressed by John Deflorian in the last
outing on May 21, which was cut short by rain. The two
will be ready to go at it again on Saturday when time trials
start at 1:00 p.m. (Jeff

GATEWAY TO DEDICATE DARRELL RUSSELL MEMORIAL
Gateway International Raceway will hold a grandstand dedication
in memory of fallen Top Fuel Driver Darrell Russell on
Saturday, June 25 during the 9th Annual Sears Craftsman
NHRA Nationals. The ceremony will take place at 4:00
p.m.
Gateway will dedicate and rename its Sportsman Grandstand
the Darrell Russell Memorial Grandstand and unveil a banner
that will permanently hang behind it. Russell was
fatally injured last year during the second round of eliminations. His
widow, Julie, will be in attendance during the ceremony.
"When a tragedy like this occurs, you want to make
sure to celebrate the life," said Matt Strelo, Gateway
Vice President and General Manager. "We think
that this is a fitting tribute to keep the spirit of Darrell
Russell alive forever at Gateway." (DRO file photo
