DRO PROJECT CAR UPDATES
Columnist Jok Nicholson forwarded a photo of the DRO project
cars he and his son Andy run, along with an update on their
summer racing.
"The Project 4-Link (Attitude Adjusted), entering
the fifth season of racing has been performing great. 7.70s
at 173 in the 90-degree Iowa heat. Our switch to the TCI
Top Dragster 'glide has been a blessing as it has never
even quivered when I bump it into the stage beam. The King
Demon tunnel ram carbs have been flawless for going on two
seasons with little more than a good spraying with carb
cleaner. The new 75301 MSD is a great tool and will be part
of the Project 4-Link feature next month.
"I won a Quick 16 race late in June and have survived
first round at all the events this season saving a bundle
in "buy-backs." We are into the very hot part
of the season and I struggle a little getting down a 140-degree
track but that's expected with 970 H.P.....I don't really
care, running "a-buck-seventy-five" in a bracket
car is fun at the stripe!

"Andy
has been off to a pretty good start too with Back 2-Basics
(All In). After some initial minor engine problems he has
a runner-up in a Quick 16 and has been going as many rounds
as me in out local track Summit Points races.
"I am still surprised the 500-inch Mopar we built
is running 8.10 at 163 with a small 1050 carb and Mopar
Stage IV heads. Not much of the trick stuff on this car
but without Barry Grant/Demon, MSD, Comp Cams and RCI we
would still be assembling it."
Nicholson adds a note to the readers: "It is fun writing
the articles and getting our reader's responses. We have
also had a lot of great ideas sent to us by you readers.
Keep it up and somebody send me a "Lucky Charm"
so we can start winning those .001 and .002 races that have
been killing us lately." (Jok
