Street Car Association's 10.5 Outlaw Class. A coming-out party is planned for the July 30-31 ORSCA event at Carolina Dragway in Jackson, S.C.

Known by its nickname, 10.5W, the new tire measures 33 inches tall and its tread is 11.6 inches. It is a bias-ply racing slick, mounts on a 15-inch wheel and has a 104-inch circumference. The tire has Goodyear's D4B tread compound. The 10.5W tread width designation is mandated for the class by the sanctioning body.

ORSCA drivers Mike Hill, Gil Mobley and Joey Martin are among the handful that have been part of the development process for the 10.5W. Along with the debut of the 10.5W tire at Carolina, Goodyear will have prototype displays of their new Goodyear and Dunlop DOT drag radial tires. A full compliment of engineers and marketing representatives will be on hand to mark the event. [7-22-2005]

GOT CABO WABO? MAYBE OR MAYBE NOT

Jim Dunn's Fuel Coupe Team with the always loquacious Tony Bartone driving, announced recently that they had signed the Sammy Hagar backed Cabo Wabo Tequila as an associate. Thinking that might represent an advertising opportunity for Drag Racing Online Magazine, our advertising dude called up the advertising rep for the booze and pitched them on buying some ad space. The answer he received from the ad rep went something like, "We have no budget for advertising and besides we don't think drag racing is a good place for us to advertise." Say what?

Kind of makes you wonder what the Jim Dunn deal was for. Maybe a couple of cases of Cabo? [7-22-2005]

THE WJ/GRUMPY FEUD...THE EARLY YEARS

The Agent received this photo courtesy of the GM PR folks and decided it was very interesting. It just shows how long Warren Johnson and Grumpy Jenkins have been going at it in Pro Stock. The Agent wonders if there was a burn-down involved here. Be sure to see WJ's Wrap Sheet in our Features section. [7-22-2005]
