The Agent got this rare photo forwarded to him of the short-lived Jim Oddy BB/FC car. Oddy tells the Agent that he only ran the car about four or five times before he parked it. There are a couple of interesting things in this photo. The car in the background is Glen Lazzer, the Funny Farmer, and the little protrusion on the rear window is to clear the roll bar.  (T. CAN-AM EVENT TO BE HELD

Two $2500-to-win Stock/Super Stock combination races will be held Sept. 3-4 at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario. The Can-Am Labour Day Nationals (or Labor, for all our readers in the USA) will be held in conjunction with the PMRA Pro Modified series also at the track that weekend. Tech director, F.J. Smith calls the event a fun racing alternative to Indy, saying, "You get to race twice and still be home on Monday to relax."

The Agent is assuming that the entry fee and payout is in Canadian dollars. For more information go to www.smithperformance.com/can_am.html.  [8-5-2005]

MAYBE VIRGIL HARTMAN WAS RIGHT!

NHRA's Don Taylor sent out a memo to the Top Fuel teams saying that NHRA has asked SFI to review the spec for Top Fuel chassis. The Agent can only assume this was in response to the failure of Don Schumacher's Brad Hadman chassis at Seattle. At the same time, NHRA made a chassis update supplied by Brad Hadman to his customers mandatory, beginning at the Brainerd POWERade event, August 19-21. This requirement amends the 2005 NHRA Rulebook, Section 13, Page 188.

Didn't Virgil Hartman address what he perceived as a weakness in those chassis immediately after the Darrell Russell crash last year on the Nitromater chat room? Many people, including DRO Editor Jeff Burk, took Virgil to task for his comments. Obviously Hartman may have been right and Burk obviously was completely wrong. [8-5-2005]
