NOSTALGIA NITRO
FLOPPER NEWS
One of the Agent’s Arizona operatives
called to confirm that Lil' John Lombardo will be driving
a new Hemi-powered 70's Plymouth Arrow with team members
Donnie Couch, Billy Bones and Pat Galvin. Couch was hanging
around the Dale Pulde-tuned 'Cuda driven by Ron Capps
at the recent Pomona Goodguys event.

Finishing
touches are being made on Chuck and Del Worsham's "Blue
Max" Mustang replica, blessed by Raymond Beadle,
after leaving SoCal's Paintin' Place with details and
logos added by Kenny Youngblood and Tom Kelly. The car
will debut at the NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex
on September 22-25 with Beadle in attendance. The Worshams
plan on running the car at select 2006 Goodguys events
that don't conflict with NHRA POWERade shows and will
probably make the March Meet.
The operative also mentioned that "East-West"
Bob Eakins, the former clutch guy on the Mark Oswald-driven
"Over the Hill Gang" flopper is gathering the
parts for his classic Mustang fuel coupe. If rumors are
true, there may be as many as twenty classic nitro funnies
at the 2006 March Meet including a few East Coast entries.

EUROPEAN FINALS
COVERAGE COMING SOON TO A COMPUTER NEAR YOU
The FIA/UEM European tour wrapped up last
weekend with Tommy Moller (near lane) taking the event
win over Micke Kagered (far lane) in Top Fuel, but Moller
missed out on the championship to Holland's Lex Joon after
failing to take away Joon's low ET bonus points in the
final round of eliminations. The weather-blighted race
was completed right against the local curfew thanks only
to the astonishing efforts of the Santa Pod track crew.
A full report on the FIA car, UEM bike and NDRS Pro Mod
classes is coming soon. (Ivan
