TEXAS TOP FUEL/PRO MOD TEAM COMING?

The Agent heard from a good source that a former famous Texas nitro Funny Car driver/owner may be making his return to drag racing in association with a well known Pro Mod team. The Agent also hears that an announcement might be forthcoming soon concerning adding a Top Fuel dragster or Funny Car to make a two-car team. [9-8-2005]

commitment from Dave Wood and Tommy Lipar at around $1,000,000 per season. If the deal is signed, the Agent hears that the schedule might be cut back to 12 races; ten at National Events and two as the headliners at the NHRA SportsNationals at Belle Rose, LA and Columbus, OH.

The Agent also hears that a return to IHRA rules will be considered to bring back some of the name racers they have lost this year because the current rules have caused many nitrous racers to abandon the NHRA events. [9-8-2005]

NEW 3-CAR TEAM?

The Agent hears that Kenny Koretsky is getting much closer to adding a nitro Funny Car to his NitroFish stable. Although nothing is set in stone yet and no sponsor has been leaked, the brother of a current top-five Dodge Stratus fuel coupe driver appears to be first in line for the new flopper gig. As he steps further away from the Pro Stock driver's seat, "Captain Chaos" has said he'll have his crew chief Eddie Guarnaccia, Jr. in the hemi Stratus for the bulk of next season with the boss driving at select events. HITMAN HEADING TO ORLANDO?

Mike "The Hitman" Hill, fresh off an Outlaw 10.5 win at Atlanta Dragway in his own 2002 Mustang Cobra, says he's been asked by Atlanta polesitter Terry Robbins to drive Robbins' 2002 Camaro next month at the World Street Finals at Orlando SpeedWorld Dragway. That should be a formidable combination as the silver Camaro has clearly been established as the quickest hot rod in the hyper-competitive ORSCA series and Hill is known for his skill on the tree. MOVING SUPPLIES FOR KATRINA RELIEF

If you get a busy signal when you try to contact Cam Motion, don't worry, they are still there. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based company, only 60 miles from some of the hardest-hit areas, has spent the last few days collecting supplies for the Hurricane Katrina survivors. So far, according to Cam Motion president, Kip Fabre, they have sent trucks of food and supplies to Bogalusa and Kentwood in Louisiana and Waveland, Mississippi. The Agent knows that many other companies and racers are collecting items and money. We can't list all of them, but we urge all of our readers to give generously to the relief effort of their choice. This is a monumental task that will take many months of effort. [9-8-2005]
