NOSTALGIA NATIONALS COMES TO MID STATE
DRAGWAY
Venerable
Mid State Dragway in Havana, Illinois will host a Nostalgia
Nationals this weekend. All entries are restricted to the
pre-1972 “golden age” of drag racing.
One of the organizers of the event is Mike Coker of Westfield,
IN, former resident of Havana, helped design Mid State Dragway
in 1969 and raced his own dragsters there from 1970-72.
He will return for the second year in a row to compete with
his son Troy at the wheel of their new “Greenskeeper”
front motored digger.
The Agent made many laps down the eighth-mile Central Illinois
track in his youth, so he feels nostalgic enough about the
old place to give it a free plug. For more information go

Former
NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster World Champion and Texas racer
Alan Bradshaw recently completed his Top Fuel licensing
laps in one of Virgil Hartman’s Top Fuel cars. He
made laps of 4.65/316.75 and 4.77/307.98 mph to get his license.
T/F drivers John Smith and Clay Millican signed his license.
Bradshaw drove Kansas racer Randy Meyer’s injected-nitro
A/Fuel Dragster to the 2003 Top Alcohol Dragster World Championship.
Currently Bradshaw is without a Top Fuel team to drive for
but like hundreds of other drivers with a Top Fuel ticket
is searching for funding and a ride.
